Crappy Goth Website Contest!
Working off yesterday’s theme that has exploded in 57 directions at once, Lisa and I have opened up our little passtime to the general public and are hosting a “contest” of sorts to see who can create the worst Bad Gothic Website.

Yesterday’s entry explains the origin of the game. Today’s will be a list of entries from those plucky contestants who dared to try their dainty hand at shitty HTML coding and myopic layout and conception. This entry will be updated as new projects are completed and their URL’s sent to me, so check back often — if this is to your taste.

So, let's have another quick bloodbar and get to the contestants’ projects in the order they have been completed.
  1. I’m so Goth I’m Dead!—by Lisa.
  2. GoffBoi’s Page o’ Despair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!—by le Marquis Déjà Dû.
  3. Goth for God—by Portia.
  4. Welcome to the Dark Mistress’s Lair!!—by ???

No matriculation necessary. Here is the email invitation that was posted to some of the larger Gothlists around the country:

SPLAT! Dearest Darklings of the Dark, Dark Nite,

A new Web Empire is upon us! A battle to see who can create the absolute worst goth page surrounding the life of a fictional gothic post-zygote character.

The game is open to invitation to anyone who wishes to give it a rum-go and try to unlearn all their clean design and HTML skills.

For more details and example pages, skim these relevent URL’s:

Take an hour out of your dull work day! Make a Bad Goth Page! Bad spleling, horizontal scroll, broken links, hard-to-read font colours and sizes, IT’S ALL GOOD! Just don’t forget to use the requisite bloodbar.gif at some inappropriate point, and a <BLINK> tag or two if you’re feeling saucy.

(Lisa’s character, “ROchelle”, for example, is brilliant, for one spells it “ROchelle”. I wish I had thought of that. Dang. Point for her.)

So g’head. Create a lovely goth page, then meticulously go through and ruin it. Toss it up onto the web, and email me the URL. I will keep a list of entries and there will probably end up being a contest or something with some lame-o prize involved. And who wouldn’t want to win that?
