The Marquis’ Intimate Diary

THURSDAY, 30 DECEMBER, 1999, PHILADELPHIA
Finished a hand-done silkscreen and subsequent printing of Oscar Wilde with a sassy chapeau at a jaunty angle on his head. Series of 25 prints. Messy, paint-splattered house now.

I wanted to get at least one painting of Oscar in the 20th century since we have it in common.

I listened Claudio Arrau playing Liszt’s Transcendental Études, and Salt n’ Pepa’s Remix Hits while painting this subject because that seemed sufficiently absurd.

One does try to do things that would have pleased dear old Oscar.
